Wildlife Viewing

A few seasonal highlights. Mule Deer are always present even wandering Ridgway Colorado at night. An Elk herd of 100-200 graze in a field within view of the Chipeta from late March to early May. Bald Eagles often roost along the Uncompahgre River near Ridgway during the winter. Hawks are common. Big Horn Sheep , Mountain Goats , Bear, and Mountain Lions can be found high in the San Juan Mountains.   Humming Birds provide summer entertainment at the Chipeta feeders and flowers.
