Ouray Ice Fest

Ice climbing enthusiasts from all around the county gathered together this past weekend for the 17th annual Ouray Ice Festival. It has been known as the biggest ice festival in North America. People came to enjoy speed climbing, difficulty courses from novice to the most advanced, ice climbing clinics and slack line walking. Festival events were held in and around the Ouray Ice Park, located in the Uncompahgre Gorge in Ouray, Colorado. The town was packed for the weekend with ice climbers, gear manufacturers, and ice climbing enthusiasts. We enjoyed watching climbers navigate their axes and traverse the canyon walls. The park is man-made and all parts of the gorge have been polished by water over the years. It is maintained by expert ice climbers to make sure there’s safe and quality ice for people to enjoy. It’s something for everyone to check out even if it’s just for theĀ  scenery or to watch people accomplish amazing feats.
