Snowshoe Through the Valley

Opportunities for winter sport activities are still abundant in and around the Ridgway area, despite the high temperatures we’ve experienced this winter. Ouray has a variety of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails, almost all of which have been winter permitting thus far. Plan your Colorado Ski & Staycation today, and take advantage of the complimentary activities our valley has to offer. The possibilities are endless going North or South, and recently we indulged in the snow the Grand Mesa had to offer. The Grand Mesa is located in the mountains between Hotchkiss and Cedaredge, and offers a great playground for snowshoeing. Keep your eyes open for our upcoming specials and group deals we’ll be offering throughout the next couple months here at the Chipeta Solar Springs Resort, and plan on coming to spend a weekend luxuriating in your activity of choice whether it’s at Telluride Ski Resort or snowshoeing through our beautiful mountain ranges. Both cross-country skis and snowshoes can be purchased or rented in Ouray at Ouray Mountain Sports on Main Street, and Hawks Drift Guides also offers snowshoes only. They also offer quided snowshoe tours in the San Juan and Cimarron Mountains. If you’re headed North for a day trip, snowshoes can be rented in Montrose at Jeans Westerner. Be beware that the weather can change rapidly in Colorado, so dress appropriately and don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen. Some south-facing slopes and trails may melt off early, but snow conditions for skiing and snowshoeing are generally reliable until well into April. Call today to plan your next getaway!
