With incredible views of the San Juan Mountains, home to more than 2,000 acres of lift-accessible terrain and named in Conde Nast top 5 north American ski resort, Telski boasts 4,425 feet of vertical, accessed via 19 lifts and 148 runs. With a lift-served elevation of 12,515 feet and a maximum elevation of 13,150 feet, the mountain has no trouble holding onto its snow – more than 280 inches of average snowfall. Telluride’s terrain ranges from beginner to intermediate, with four hike-to terrain areas for advanced and expert skiers. The ski area offers multiple terrain parks for all skill levels as well as 10 kilometers of Nordic skiing.

Top of the Pines is an outstanding outdoor recreation area and environmental education base camp, special events destination and open space preserve. Located at the foot of Sneffels Range in Southwest Colorado and in close proximity to Ouray, Ridgway and Telluride, this 175 acre wilderness jewel offers local communities and visitors a remarkable place to learn, recreate and celebrate while also providing an inspiring gathering place for everyone interested in exploring the beauty of the San Juans.
– Telluride Nordic Trails
Telluride offers six Nordic skiing areas in the immediate vicinity: Telluride Town Park, The Valley Floor, Telluride Golf Course, the Top of chair Ten “TopAten” Trout Lake and Priest Lake. Each offer different terrain, varied lengths of groomed trails and excellent views. The Telluride Nordic Association, through charitable donations and fundraising efforts, manages the trails and posts a daily grooming report. Pets are permitted in Mountain Village, Priest Lake and Trout Lake. Please sign in when visiting Trout Lake and Priest Lake.
The Nordic Center in Telluride Park offers cross-country rental equipment, trail maps for the area and lessons.e.
Silverton Mountain and Outback Terrain
Back Country skiing is the perfect activity for outdoor winter enthusiasts. combining downhill skiing with the physical challenge of traversing to 12,000 plus feet elevation either hiking or traveling via helicopter.
For the extreme skiing enthusiast, Silverton Mountain offers guided skiing and snowboarding with elevations between 10,400 to 12,300 feet. Small groups of skiers are guided through up to five runs per day. Heli-skiing and Unguided skiing are available during the ski season. Please contact Silverton Mountain for more details.
Silverton Mountain requires reservations Thursday through Sunday, December through April.
Ranked one of the most popular ice climbing parks in the world, Ouray Ice Park and surrounding mountains provide a wide variety of ice falls for all experience levels. Ouray Ice Park has designed and built an Ice Climbing Kids College for children, as well.
Competitors and spectators worldwide travel to the San Juan region, every January, to be a part of some of the world’s best ice climbing competitions at the Annual Ouray Ice Festival.
