TELLURIDE SKI RESORT DOWNHILL SKIING
If you are looking to experience world class skiing, you have arrived. Telluride Ski Resort, named one of the top 5 ski resorts in the country, offers a wide variety of diverse terrain sure to please every skill level. Take a fee-based round trip shuttle and enjoy the scenic drive to and from the ski resort. San Juan regional mountains offer spectacular Nordic ski trails with breathtaking views. Groomed and non-groomed trails are available with all difficulty levels.
Just above the town of Ridgway, Top of the Pines recreational area provides beginner to intermediate Nordic Trails with amazing views of the San Juan Gateway and Sneffels Mountain range.
Ouray, just an eight minute drive from Chipeta Resort, offers several kilometers of groomed trails maintained by the Ouray Nordic Council.
Ironton, located eight miles South of Ouray with gentle valley terrain, offers beginner and intermediate trails.
Closer to Montrose, the Dave Wood Cross Country Ski Trail offers beginner to intermediate trails.
SILVERTON MOUNTAIN AND OUTBACK TERRAIN
Back Country skiing is the perfect activity for outdoor winter enthusiasts. combining downhill skiing with the physical challenge of traversing to 12,000 plus feet elevation either hiking or traveling via helicopter.
For the extreme skiing enthusiast, Silverton Mountain offers guided skiing and snowboarding with elevations between 10,400 to 12,300 feet. Small groups of skiers are guided through up to five runs per day. Heli-skiing and Unguided skiing are available during the ski season. Please contact Silverton Mountain for more details.

Ranked one of the most popular ice climbing parks in the world, Ouray Ice Park and surrounding mountains provide a wide variety of ice falls for all experience levels. Ouray Ice Park has designed and built an Ice Climbing Kids College for children, as well.
Competitors and spectators worldwide travel to the San Juan region, every January, to be a part of some of the world’s best ice climbing competitions at the Annual Ouray Ice Festival.

2019 SKIJORING COMPETITION WEEKEND
This year’s highly anticipated 3rd Annual San Juan Skijoring Competition will bring competitor’s from all over the country to compete. Races begin on Saturday. January 12 at high noon and conclude Sunday, January 13, 2019, in the afternoon.
This year’s competition combines western horsemanship and racing, along with solemn and obstacle course ski racing techniques and a whole lot of fire in your belly! The race consists of an adrenaline packed 15 – 20 seconds where a skier is pulled behind a horse reaching speeds up to 40 miles per hour while maneuvering through various obstacles and up to 20 gates.
