As the 2017-2018 ski season ends, Southwestern Colorado’s fun begins again!
Now is the perfect time for you to grab the gusto by taking your last runs of the 2017-2018 ski season. Chipeta Solar Springs Resort in southwestern Colorado helps you get into the action with more bang for your travel buck.
Those into spring skiing will love our Winter Slope Runner, Winter Premier Package and Never Leaving Colorado Ski Package that each includes multiple-day lift tickets to world class Telluride Ski Resort.
Located in the historic town of Ridgway, Chipeta’s adobe-style Colorado resort and spa provides boutique lodge accommodations with private hot tubs, romantic fireplaces and patios. For a break from the downhill thrills, you can unwind at our solar heated pools, and spa with yoga room, steam room and sauna.
But you’ll need to book your Chipeta Telluride ski package ASAP! Since Telluride’s ski season closes on Sunday, April 8, you only have a couple of weeks to enjoy a last hurrah. Silverton Mountain also closes on April 8, while Purgatory in Durango takes it a week later with an April 15 closing.
As Telluride’s season wraps up on April 8, weekend festivities keep the vibe on a high note with concerts and après ski revelry.
Beginning at 1:30pm on Sunday, the annual Closing Day Concert at Heritage Plaza in Mountain Village brings out the soulful music of The Commonheart.
Front man Clinton Clegg’s gritty vocals will pair with rock riffs and horns in the live event featuring sounds from the group’s new “Grown” album. Count on an interlacing of soul, gospel and heavy blues influences.
Adding more spirit to the free show will be a cash bar flowing with beverages from
Telluride Brewing, Sweetwater Brewing and Tito’s Lemonades.
If you’re feeling competitive, you can tap into Sunday’s Pond Skim & Music at Gorrono Ranch.
This closing day fete will find DJ Soul Atomic starting the party at noon as the pond skim takes place adjacent to Gorrono Ranch.
Those into flaunting their skim skills should plan to register for the pond skim between 10-11am. Be sure to show up earlier, however, as the field is limited to the first 100. Gorrono closes officially at 3pm that afternoon.
For more details on either event, contact Alex Brown at (970) 728-7461 or via email at email@example.com.
After the slopes officially close, southwestern Colorado should still have snow. It’s the perfect time to bring your canine along for an adventure that takes in cross-country skiing or snowshoeing during a time that’s all about escaping to peace and quiet.
Chipeta Resort offers doggie beds in pet-friendly rooms so that everyone can stay together in our comfy boutique home away from home.
In Ridgway, Top of the Pines welcomes those into snowshoeing and cross-country in an open space preserve and retreat set on a high mesa meadow with an amazing view of Mt. Sneffels scenery. Ouray Nordic Council maintains trails in and around Ouray, including the gentle valley of Ironton that’s located eight miles south of town.
