Many skiers want to avoid colder winter months and actually prefer to hit the slopes in the spring. Just think about it. The conditions are warmer since the sun shines most days. It’s also a prime time for spring break and Easter holiday weekend getaways.
While destinations fare better at different times of the year, several of southwest Colorado’s best ski resorts improve as the season progresses. And that’s great news for snow addicts with Chipeta Solar Springs Resort on the radar. You still have time to book our Winter Slope Runner, Winter Premier Package and Never Leaving Colorado Ski Package that each includes multiple-day lift tickets to world class Telluride Ski Resort (TellurideSkiResort.com).
For the fifth time in the past six years, the readers of Conde Nast Traveler have rated Telluride the #1 Ski Resort in the U.S. and Canada. In SKI Magazine’s 2018 Resort Survey, Telluride was recognized as the #5 Ski Resort in the West. See for yourself why this southwest Colorado ski resort in the San Juan Mountains has received so many high profile accolades!
In the spring ski sphere, Telluride’s north faces and high slopes create an ideal situation that preserves late season. Some 60 percent of the mountain nods to intermediates and beginners, who tackle runs from the highest lift-served peaks with views typically reserved for experts.
Couple that with a vertical drop of more than 3,500 feet, and shredders become downright giddy about the challenges. As daylight lingers longer, the resort also extends its afternoon hours.
Telluride also appeases snowboarders with 84 trails and the region’s largest snowboard park.
At Silverton Mountain (SilvertonMountain.com), you’ll have to ski or board with a guide most of the season. In December and April, however, you can tackle the dicey terrain can go on your own if you’re confident in your skills.
Chipeta’s discount packages and these great spring conditions make this the perfect time to book a spring break ski vacation to our lodge accommodations in Ridgway, Colorado.
